Catalyst to the Capital

Every year, we organize a three-day trip to Tallahassee, during which a delegation of community members, partners, and staff members meet with elected officials to discuss the issues of greatest concern to the communities we work with. Participants of Catalyst to the Capital (C2C) receive training, meet with legislators, and advocate for their communities.

The dates for our next trip are to be determined, but will take place in early April 2021. We will find an alternative method of advocacy if safe transportation is inhibited due to the pandemic. For this reason, no payments from Fellows or Partners are due at this time.

In case you missed our "What Happened in Tallahassee" event

Our guest Ida Eskamani shares the status of bills we advocated for or against during our trip to the Capital in February 2020. Also, Senator Jason Pizzo and Representative Dotie Joseph offer advice for grassroots advocates and a look ahead at what's to come in 2021.

Become a Fellow

Being a C2C Fellow provides an opportunity to advocate on behalf of yourself, your family, and your community. This experience also provides space to interact with government officials in Miami and Tallahassee, joining a network of activists and committed community leaders with a shared interest in improving the well-being of Miami-Dade residents. The three-day bus trip includes travel to and from Tallahassee, hotel, and meals.

All are welcome to apply! However, we are prioritizing new participants as C2C Fellows.

NOTE: After you sign up here, please fill out the Google form on the next page to complete your application.

No payments are due at this time until we determine the safest form of advocacy. Typically, however, each Fellow is required to pay a refundable participation fee.*

*Deposits will be refunded after trip completion. Deposits will be not be refunded if registrants do not attend the C2C trip.

Join as a Partner

Your organization can join Catalyst Miami and community members on our annual advocacy trip to Tallahassee. During the trip, you will be welcome to join our meetings with legislators or follow your own agenda.

Partners are usually asked to pay $350 per seat to attend, but the cost this year is to be determined. The trip includes transportation, lodging, access to our scheduled visits, as well as trainings and activities. Meals are included when attending Catalyst Miami events. Partners’ logos will also be added to our materials (optional).

Seats will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
